Can Layering Stamps Actually Be Fun?
Good question! Well, I am finding it easier to work with layering stamps. Being able to select colors that look good together and feeling more comfortable with lining up layers is a work in progress! Two design concepts from the course I incorporated into this card are 1) work with an odd number of flowers and 2) add leaves in a triangular shape around the flowers for a more natural look.
I started by stamping each of the four layers of the large bloom found in the Altenew Climbing Clematis stamp set separately in Memento Luxe (ML) Morocco, ML Dandelion, Distress Oxide (DO) Spiced Marmalade and finally DO Squeezed Lemonade. Then I stamped two of the small bud blooms in four layers as well. This time I went with complementary ink colors in the following order, Distress (D) Milled Lavender, Tsukineko Pearlescent Purple, D Wilted Violet and DO Seedless Preserves. Finally I stamped the three leaf images onto green and yellow patterned paper and I used three layers of ink in DO Squeezed Lemonade, ML Pear Tart and Bamboo Leaves.
I cut an A2 black card panel down by 1/8 on each side and then die cut it with an Alinacutle cover plate die. I then adhered it to a white A2 card panel to create a strong contrast as the background.
Then after die cutting all of the stamped images using my Spellbinder Platinum, I began playing with arranging all of the elements together on top of the background panel. Once I felt all was right, I adhered the blooms and leaves using Bearly Art Glue.
Next, I selected two Pinkfresh gold foiled sentiments, punched a small hole at the top of both and ran a satin black ribbon through them. I tied a small knot and cut the ends of the ribbon diagonally.
Finally, I wrapped knit gold thread around three of my fingers, held the ends in place, slid them off my fingers and glued them down maintaining the circular form. Using foam adhesive tape, I adhered one sentiment on top of the gold thread and allowed the other to dangle downward, then taped it down so both sentiments could be seen.
So to answer my original question, yes, I must admit, playing with layering stamps is very much crafty fun!!
Looks like such a fun card! Love the colours too! Thank you for submitting your wonderful work to the AECP assignment gallery.
